I AM THERE

When you're alone in the dark

And you look up to see a star shining bright

Have faith that it's me

Watching over you this night

When you see an eagle soar

Spread its wings majestic and free

Know that he does not fly alone

He flies alongside me

When the storm has passed

And the rainbow rises tall

Be secure in knowing

I'm there to catch you if you fall

When you're alone and it's dark

And the only light is a shooting star

My voice will tell you you're not alone

I am the light guiding you from afar

When you see an eagle take to flight

And spread its wings and fly

Know that he has company

And that you don't need to say goodbye

When you hear a child's laughter

Let it bring you the joy you so badly need

For I am there in that laughter

In the new sapling, I am the seed

I am all around you even now

Keeping you safe and sound

Holding you when you're crying

I am waiting to be found

When you're alone in the dark

And you wish upon that star in the night

Have faith that I am listening

On wings light but strong, I hear you and take flight

When everything seems hopeless

When the walls are closing in

Close your eyes and think of me

And I'll be by your side again

When you see the eagles soar

Spread their wings so free

With one empty space in their proud formation

And know the one climbing to take its spot is flying right with me

In the darkest of moods

And the deepest of nights

Close your eyes and you will see me

The star that's shining bright

Shining bright enough for you to find me

To help guide you on your way

Shining even into the dawn

So you'll know I'm there every day

I am with you even now

To keep you safe and sound

Feel my arms around you

I will help you to be strong

Whenever you remember

Whenever you think of me

Have faith that I am near

Sometimes it’s in the light that one cannot see

FOR A WHILE

Did you know your hero was my little boy

He grew into a fine young man

But still my little boy

Not superman

And I just want

To hold you in my arms again

Even if it’s not real

I can pretend

For a while…

I still hear you laugh

And see you smile

And hear you say

You love me like you used to do

And you know I’ll say

I love you too

For a while…

I still see that smile

I hear your footsteps coming through the door

Like you did a thousand times before

And I just I know I want

To have you by my side again

To hold my hand

And make me believe like only you can

For a while…

I still hear that laugh

And see you smile

And say you’d walk a thousand miles

Just to be here again

Just to hold me like you used to do

And you’d say you love me

And know I love you too

For a while…

My little boy

Grew into such a fine man

Just my little boy

Not Superman

And I want

You back here in my arms again

Like I held you close

Many times way back when

When a hug and kiss

Could still take away any pain

And make everything right

And good again

For a while…

Can I just hear you laugh

Can I just see your smile

For a while…

Can I just hold you

One more time again

And if it’s not real

I can pretend

My little boy

How quickly you grew into a man

But still my little boy

Not superman

Can I hear your laugh and see your smile

Just for a while
